Requisitos del Estatus Maestro:
Los que están certificados en las pruebas A1 - A8 son reconocidos como Técnicos Maestros Certificados de Automóviles ASE. NOTA: A9 NO es un requisito para la certificación de Técnico Maestro de automóviles.
Recertificación
Los técnicos deben volver a realizar las pruebas cada cinco años para conservar su certificación. Las pruebas de recertificación de automóviles y camiones ligeros (A1R - A9R) son aproximadamente la mitad de las pruebas de certificación iniciales.

Consejos para los examinados utilizando las traducciones al español en los exámenes ASE
Si está tomando un examen ASE que tiene traducción al español disponible, primero verá cada pregunta en inglés. Entre la pregunta y las respuestas, verá dos botones. Uno tiene la etiqueta "Glosario" y el otro tiene la etiqueta "Leer en español".
Si hace clic en el botón "Leer en español", verá una pantalla dividida, que muestra un PDF de la traducción al español de la pregunta a la izquierda y la versión en inglés a la derecha. Debe seleccionar su respuesta en el lado de la versión en inglés. Las respuestas están en el mismo orden en ambas versiones.
También puede hacer clic en el botón "Glosario" para que aparezca un Glosario de inglés a español. Este también es un PDF, pero se puede buscar y puede proporcionarle una definición adicional de términos en español. Al hacer clic en el botón "Leer en español", al lado izquierdo de la pantalla volverá a la pregunta en español nuevamente. Después de hacer clic en el botón de pregunta "Next" (i.e. Siguiente), la traducción al español y / o el Glosario desaparecerán, y deberá hacer clic en los botones para mostrar esa información para la siguiente pregunta.
Una de las cosas más difíciles al tomar un examen ASE y usar la traducción al español será administrar su tiempo. Tiene la misma cantidad de tiempo para completar la prueba que todos los demás examinados. Si confía en la traducción al español, le sugerimos que la muestre de inmediato y responda la pregunta después de leerla detenidamente. Lea la pregunta en inglés solo si necesita comprender mejor ciertos términos o conceptos. Si todavía tiene problemas para comprender la pregunta, use el botón "Marcar" en la parte inferior de la página para marcar la pregunta y volver a ella más tarde si el tiempo lo permite.
ASE reconoce que el español es un idioma de muchos dialectos, y queremos presentar nuestras traducciones al español de una manera que sea justa para la mayor cantidad de examinados posible. Como parte del proceso de traducción, ASE utiliza un comité de varios técnicos bilingües que representan una variedad de dialectos en español que incluyen: mexicano, centroamericano, puertorriqueño, cubano y castellano. Como grupo, el comité intenta garantizar que, dentro del contexto de cada pregunta, la edición final sea comprensible para cualquier técnico hispanohablante con conocimientos, independientemente de su procedencia. Además, ASE pone a disposición el Glosario electrónico de inglés a español para ayudarlo a resolver los problemas de dialecto que pueda tener.

Testing FAQs
ASE Certification tests are written in workshops by a national panel of seasoned automotive industry professionals, including working technicians, automobile manufacturers, aftermarket manufacturers, and educators. Not by any single person at ASE.
Exams are segmented by sub-specialty such as automobile, medium/heavy truck, school bus, collision repair, and more. There are over 50 tests, each designed to discern the automotive service technician’s knowledge of job-related skills.
Purchasing and scheduling a test can be done by logging in to your myASE account. To purchase a test, select the test you want to take and pay the applicable fees. A registration fee is charged per order in addition to the test fee. Once you have purchased a test, you will have 90 days from the original date of purchase to schedule an appointment and take your test. Visit myASE to get started.
Certification credentials are valid for five years. If it has been five years or more since you took a test, it’s time to take the corresponding Recertification Test. The five-year requirement ensures certified professionals are current in this rapidly changing industry. You can find your expiration dates on your certificates or in myASE.
You may take the Recertification Tests even if your credentials have expired. You simply must have been previously certified in that specialty area. If you have some certifications that expire soon and others that are still good for some time, you may take Recertification Tests for any or all of them. If you recertify early, you will not be credited with the time remaining on your original certification. The new expiration date occurs five years from the date of your recertification.
If you wish to change your test date or time, you must first cancel the existing appointment before you can schedule a new one. No changes are allowed within three days of your scheduled appointment. To make changes, use the Cancel Selected Appointment(s) option in myASE. For assistance by phone, call ASE Customer Care at 800-390-6789 from 8AM – 5PM Eastern Monday – Friday.
If you wish to cancel a test, you must first cancel any existing appointment for that test AND then cancel the test. Use the Cancel Test option in myASE. If you are within three days of your testing appointment, you cannot cancel the appointment or test. You can only cancel a test and receive a refund for a test that you purchased. To become ASE Certified, you must pass an ASE test and have full-time, hands-on work experience (or a combination of formal training and experience). The amount of work experience required can vary by test.
It is best to submit your work experience form for review after you have created a myASE account. It does not have to be submitted before you take your test, but your certificate for a passed test will be delayed until your work experience information is reviewed and approved. Testing Languages FAQs
If English is your second language, you may bring a standard, published English-to-foreign language dictionary to use during testing. If you speak Spanish, every ASE test features a button on the testing interface that launches an English-Spanish Glossary of Technical Terms.
The Automobile/Light Truck Tests (A1 through A9) and the Auto Maintenance & Light Repair Test (G1) are available in Spanish. You do not need to sign up for a separate Spanish test, these tests can switch between English and Spanish using the language selection button when taking the test.
